Civil War letters, 1862-1863.

Letters written to friends in Buffalo, including Mr. and Mrs. Ditto, from camps in Maryland and Virginia, concerning camp life, the loss of his "housewife" sewing kit, military campaigns, his artwork, and his love for "Laura". Also, one letter and a partial letter from George F. Ditto, Blairstown, Iowa, to his sister Emma, 11 Aug. 1901 and undated, reminiscing about his service in the 5th Iowa Infantry during the Civil War, and describing his recent fall from a scaffold.
